On July 18, 2023 Gov. Tina Kotek signed into law HB 2627, giving PAs in the state more opportunity to actively partake in efforts improving access to quality care in Oregon. AAPA joins the Oregon Society of Physician Assistants (OSPA) in thanking Representative Bobby Levy for her efforts in sponsoring the legislature and advocating on behalf of the PA profession.

On April 26, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed into law SB 083, legislation that will update state law to allow most PAs to practice collaboratively with a physician rather than to practice under a supervisory agreement. The bill takes effect later this summer.

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has signed HB 313 into law! Enacted upon being signed on April 18, the new law allows PAs with fewer than 8,000 practice hours to practice in collaboration with a physician or a PA with 8,000 or more practice hours.

Arizona is officially the fourth state to remove the legal tether between a PA and another healthcare provider. With the signing of H.B. 2043, PAs in the Grand Canyon State are now empowered to expand patient care through more modernized, team-based healthcare.
