Iowa State House Overwhelmingly Passes Bill Modernizing PA Practice by a Vote of 90 – 8

On March 7, the Iowa House of Representatives passed HF 424 by a vote of 90 to 8. The legislation would remove mandates for written agreements between PAs and a specific physician.

Colorado Academy of PAs One Step Closer to Move from Supervision to Collaboration

The Colorado Senate Health and Human Services Committee passed SB 83 yesterday by a vote of 6 to 3. This bill would modernize Colorado's PA Practice Act, removing the requirement for PAs to be supervised by a physician.

Legislation Authorizing PAs to Provide Treatment to Federal Workers Injured on the Job Reintroduced in 118th Congress

AAPA commends bill sponsors for reintroduction of the bipartisan, bicameral Improving Access to Workers’ Compensation for Injured Federal Workers Act. The bill will correct an outdated restriction and allow federal employees to receive treatment from PAs and NPs for care provided through federal workers’ compensation (FECA).

AAPA President Orozco Attends White House Event to Mark the End of Buprenorphine X-waiver

The Mainstreaming Addiction Treatment (MAT) Act, which eliminates the bureaucratic X-waiver and will improve access to care and save lives, was signed into law by President Biden. This is a critical step in addressing the nation’s opioid epidemic.
