AAPA offers financial support through fellowships and grants to PAs interested in research. The AAPA-PAEA Research Fellowship is a collaborative PA education and workforce research capacity building program, and the Small Research Grants program supports research for PAs who may not have access to institutional resources.

The PA profession includes clinicians who work in over 60 specialties, ranging from family medicine and urgent care to transplant surgery and dermatology. In 2023, cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery was the highest-paying PA specialty.
