AAPA, PAF to Lead Impactful Projects in 2025

AAPA and the Physician Associate Foundation (PAF) are working on several key projects aimed at improving healthcare and addressing health disparities across the country. These projects have wide-reaching impacts – from improving colorectal cancer screening rates and mental healthcare services in schools, to working to diversify the PA profession.

Grantee Spotlight: Fighting Diabetes with Healthy Lungs and Feet

With funding from the PA Foundation’s Robert K. Pedersen Global Outreach Grant Program, Carroll University’s Waukesha Free Clinic opened their doors to administer vaccines and provide diabetic foot exams and foot care education for diabetic patients in Wisconsin.

Honoring Ron Fisher (1943-2024), Past President of AAPA

Throughout his life, Ron Fisher wore many hats. Before becoming a PA, he was a sailor, jet mechanic, UPS driver, barber, and nurse. Once a PA, he took on several leadership roles, including secretary and eventually president of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (PSPA) and president of AAPA from 1982-83.

The AMA Has Responded to Letters from AAPA 

Over the past few months, AAPA has sent two formal communications to the American Medical Association (AMA), calling for an end to the AMA’s divisive campaign targeted at PAs. On September 19, AAPA received a response from the AMA. AAPA encourages all PAs to review the letter.

Grantee Spotlight: PA Students Make an IMPACT in their Community

Lake Erie College PA Program hosted its second annual “Fall into Health” fair this September. The community event was established by Lake Erie College PA students to promote health and wellness across Lake County, Ohio, educate community members on the role of PAs, and build stronger connections with Painesville and the surrounding area. In 2023, the program was awarded a PA Foundation IMPACT Grant to support its project efforts and goals.
