PA Ron Fisher Remembered for His Leadership and Community Impact

November 19, 2024

AAPA honors Ron Fisher, PA, DFAAPA, AAPA’s 15th president and committed advocate for the PA profession. Fisher passed away on October 23, 2024.

Throughout his life, Fisher wore many hats. Before becoming a PA, he was a sailor, jet mechanic, UPS driver, barber, and nurse. Once a PA, he took on several leadership roles, including secretary and eventually president of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants (PSPA) and president of AAPA from 1982-83. Fisher also championed the work of PAs and received the PSPA Outstanding Service Award, The Upjohn Leadership Award, and the Geisinger Clinic Award for Leadership in Division Management.

“PA Fisher was a credit to our profession and to his community,” said AAPA President Jason Prevelige, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA. “We are so grateful for his contributions to the PA profession. His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the impact he made.”
