U.S. News & World Report named the PA profession the #2 Best Health Care Job and the #3 Best STEM Job in its 2025 rankings released today. Additionally, the profession secured the #3 spot among the 100 Best Jobs across all occupations – a two-spot jump from 2024.
“Climbing in the 2025 U.S. News Best Jobs rankings is a powerful recognition of the contributions PAs make to healthcare every day and a celebration of their lasting impact on patient care,” said AAPA President and Chair of the Board Jason Prevelige DMSc, MBA, PA-C, DFAAPA.
“This honor highlights the PA profession’s continued growth and leadership in expanding access to care and addressing health inequities nationwide. This recognition will surely inspire the PA community to keep pushing boundaries, innovating, and driving progress as leaders in healthcare.”
According to U.S. News, professions receive a composite score calculated from seven of the most common attributes important to job seekers. These factors include median salary, unemployment rate, 10-year growth volume, 10-year growth percentage, future job prospects, stress level, and work-life balance.
The PA ranking was informed in part by Bureau of Labor Statistics projections that the PA profession will experience a nearly 28% increase in employment between 2023 and 2033, a rate that is faster than most occupations both in and out of the health care sector.
