Honoring Ina Cushman, Past President of AAPA

Ina Cushman dedicated her life to patient care and educating the next generation of PAs. In addition to her impressive work with wound care and orthopaedics, she held leadership positions within AAPA and the Massachusetts Association of PAs. Cushman was president of AAPA from 2002-03.

Bridging Gaps in Dementia Care: PAs as Champions of Early Detection and Support

PAs play a pivotal role in the early detection and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias by initiating targeted conversations, conducting relevant testing, and guiding patients and care partners through the complex care pathway. By leveraging existing resources, PAs can empower families to overcome barriers, access timely support, and navigate the challenges of ADRD with confidence and clarity.

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, I can’t help but reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. In 2025, PAs demonstrated an unwavering passion for patient care and advocacy that is having a tremendous impact on healthcare delivery and PA practice laws and regulation.
