Report demonstrates health equity work underway

May 14, 2026

AAPA has released the third annual Health Equity Report to give AAPA members and the physician associate community a look into how AAPA worked to advance health equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in 2025.

“Health disparities continue to strain the healthcare system, impacting millions of individuals across communities in the United States,” AAPA CEO Lisa M. Gables states in the report’s opening message. “… As clinicians practicing medicine in every setting and specialty, PAs play a critical role in expanding access, improving outcomes, and advancing more equitable models of care.”

The report highlights health equity work underway across the five pillars of AAPA’s Health Equity Roadmap:

  1. Creating a culture of health equity
  2. Leveraging research and enhancing knowledge
  3. Empowering PAs to promote health equity
  4. Engaging communities to transform health
  5. Creating PAthways to the profession

PAs can continue to stay engaged and informed of AAPA’s work by visiting the AAPA Health Equity & DEI Resource Center.
