Application Cycle for 2025-2026 AAPA-PAEA Research Fellowship is Now Open

AAPA offers financial support through fellowships and grants to PAs interested in research. The AAPA-PAEA Research Fellowship is a collaborative PA education and workforce research capacity building program, and the Small Research Grants program supports research for PAs who may not have access to institutional resources.

Physician Associates Addressing Youth Mental Health One Student at a Time

The PArtnership to Improve Youth Mental Health program, developed and led by AAPA and the Physician Associate Foundation, harnesses the expertise of physician associates to train youth-serving professionals on evidence-based strategies for supporting youth mental health. Since its creation in 2024, the program has reached approximately 250 youth-serving professionals.

Brigadier General Bill A. Soliz, DMSc, MBA, PA-C, FACHE, is the 2025 recipient of the Military Service Award. A leader in U.S. Army medicine with more than 30 years of military service, Soliz is taking over as the Director of the J3/5/7 at the Defense Health Agency Headquarters, responsible for overseeing global healthcare operations.

2025 PA of the Year Transforms Healthcare Through Leadership and Public Service

Colonel James J. Jones, PhD, PA-C, is the 2025 recipient of the PA of the Year Award. Committed to advancing the PA profession, military healthcare, and public health initiatives at the local, national, and international levels, Jones is the first PA in history to serve as Director of the White House Medical Unit.

2025 Preceptor of the Year is Known for Her Unwavering Dedication to Service

Emily Monahan, PA-C, CPAAPA, ATC, OTC, is the recipient of the 2025 Preceptor of the Year Award. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Monahan felt called to become a preceptor. Along with precepting students from two PA programs, she also co-manages a social media platform that offers shadowing opportunities to pre-PAs.
