Resources for Supporting Brain Health and Navigating Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease
AAPA’s Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Toolkit includes early diagnosis, screening, and treatment resources for Alzheimer’s disease
June 16, 2026

In the United States, more than 7 million individuals are living with Alzheimer’s disease—the most common type of dementia. The lifetime risk of Alzheimer’s disease at age 45 years is approximately 1 in 5 for women, and 1 in 10 for men. There is no known cure for Alzheimer’s disease, but early diagnosis can help patients receive proper medical care and treatment, improving quality of life for both patients and their care partners.
Physician associates are frontline providers who practice in every setting and specialty, treating patients across the full spectrum of care. This positions PAs to advance brain health, as well as early diagnosis, screening, and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
Created with support from Eli Lilly, AAPA’s new Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Toolkit aims to help both providers and patients understand the components of brain health, how Alzheimer’s disease is diagnosed, the importance of early screening, and current treatment options.
Resources for Providers
This toolkit includes essential resources designed specifically for healthcare providers, from fact sheets and infographics to videos and checklists. Sharpen your clinical knowledge on brain health and Alzheimer’s disease prevention, evidence-based steps for early detection, the latest diagnostic criteria, current treatment options, and more. You will also find resources on how to navigate conversations around brain health with patients, including ways they can take care of their brains.
Educating Patients and Care Partners
As you help patients and their care partners navigate an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis, they may benefit from exploring additional resources. The toolkit includes resources for patients to understand the importance of lifelong brain health, assessment and safety checklists, support and education resources for care partners, financial and planning documents, and more.
The Alzheimer’s and Brain Health Toolkit is now available in AAPA’s Clinical Resource Library.
