Caring for Sexual and Gender Minorities

This lecture will explain basic concepts and terminology. In addition, we will discuss how to create inclusive spaces for SGM people in clinics and hospitals. We will then dive into the health disparities that exist and how the medical community has contributed to such inequities. We will examine the effects of Ilan Meyer’s Minority Stress Model and how providers have a huge impact on medical and mental health outcomes. The lecture will conclude with resources available for providers and patients both locally and nationally.
