ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Sept. 30, 2024) – The American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) has announced that Kimberly Williams, MPP, will serve as the organization’s inaugural Vice President of Health Equity & DEI. In this pivotal role, Williams will spearhead the development, leadership, and implementation of action plans that align with AAPA and the PA Foundation’s mission to eliminate healthcare disparities and foster equity within the PA profession and healthcare as a whole.

“Kimberly brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will further AAPA’s commitment to advancing health equity.  Kim’s background as a data-driven decision maker and a leader in public policy and population health will enhance AAPA’s ability to navigate the complexities of this vital area,” said AAPA Chief Medical Officer and Senior VP of Clinical Affairs Jennifer M. Orozco, DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA. “Her leadership will strengthen our existing alliances and foster new partnerships, enabling us to innovate and expand our efforts. I look forward to seeing how her vision will shape AAPA’s future in promoting health equity.”

With over 23 years of national healthcare leadership experience, Williams most recently served as the Director of Health Equity and Population Health for Humana Healthy Horizons in Louisiana. Her background includes a proven track record of success in implementing evidence-based programs that improve health outcomes and address the needs of underserved communities.

“I am eager to collaborate with the AAPA staff, membership, and board to explore ways to improve health outcomes in an equitable way,” Williams said. “PAs are well positioned to increase access to high quality care and deliver culturally responsive care. I am inspired by AAPA’s work and thrilled to join an organization that is committed to diversity and health equity. I look forward to seeing AAPA continue to influence better health outcomes for all.”

As Vice President of Health Equity & DEI, Williams will act as a subject matter expert and work cross-functionally with AAPA’s and PAF’s staff, board members, volunteer leaders, and external stakeholders. Williams will also be responsible for establishing new strategic partnerships and maintaining existing alliances, including securing grant funding, corporate sponsorships, and public-private partnerships.
