American Academy of Physician Associates Announces Chantell Taylor as Chief of Public Affairs and Advocacy
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (April 29, 2024) —The American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) has hired Chantell Taylor as its new Chief of Public Affairs and Advocacy. Taylor joins AAPA after serving most recently as Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy for UCHealth, the largest academic health system in the Rocky Mountain region, comprising 14 hospitals and over 33,000 dedicated employees.
“As the new Chief of Public Affairs and Advocacy, Taylor brings over 30 years of experience in public policy and social responsibility,” AAPA CEO Lisa M. Gables, CPA, said. “In her role, Taylor will develop and lead a multi-faceted advocacy strategy and oversee our governance and volunteer engagements. She will be taking AAPA into new areas and forging creative affiliations that can propel the PA profession and patient care forward in significant new ways.”
Over the course of her career, Taylor has served as a regulatory and health policy attorney in both public and private sectors. She previously built and managed a law practice, where she served as partner, focusing on government relations, legislative, public policy, regulatory and administrative law, political strategy and infrastructure building. Additionally, she’s founded and directed several nonprofit advocacy organizations and currently serves as the incoming Chair of the Board of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
“This is such a pivotal time in healthcare, given ongoing workforce shortages, health equity, and access challenges, and rapidly evolving advancements in AI, telehealth, and other innovations. PAs are at the forefront of transforming health and wellness across all areas of care – from preventative to chronic to specialty care,” Taylor said. “I’m honored to take on a role where I can help raise the voice of PAs at every stage of their career and serve as an advocate for one of the fastest-growing fields in healthcare.”
Taylor’s leadership has been recognized through prestigious accolades such as Barrister Best Government Attorney (Law Week Colorado), Super Lawyer in Government Relations, Contracts & Lobbying (5280 Magazine), and inclusion among the Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Business by the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
