American Academy of Physician Associates Announces Phil Bongiorno as Senior Vice President, Advocacy and Government Relations

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (February 3, 2022) —The American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) has hired Phil Bongiorno as its new Senior Vice President, Advocacy and Government Relations. Bongiorno joins AAPA after serving most recently as Vice President, Policy and Government Relations for the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).

“We welcome Phil to AAPA and are confident his extensive experience in advocacy and government relations will advance our national advocacy priorities to ensure PAs are able serve their patients to the full extent of their education and experience,” AAPA CEO Lisa M. Gables, CPA, said.

Over the course of his career, Bongiorno has represented the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Academy of Audiology, and the College of American Pathologists.

“I am excited to join AAPA and help lead the organization’s advocacy efforts in demonstrating the extraordinary role of PAs and their contributions to quality patient outcomes,” Bongiorno said. “I look forward to building on AAPA’s advocacy success to help advance the future of the profession.”
