AAPA Statement on Current National Crisis

June 2, 2020

The U.S. is currently experiencing a very difficult period in our nation’s history. The complex and emotionally charged issues involving racism and violence have caused pain for many individuals, including PAs and PA students. AAPA acknowledges that injustice, racism, and inequality have impacted many lives, and we want to deliver a very clear message: We strongly condemn racism in all forms. A core tenet of the profession is that PAs hold the health, safety, welfare, and dignity of all human beings as their primary responsibility. During this crisis and in the future, PAs will continue to use their knowledge, compassion, and expertise to help build healthier communities. We commit to opening an honest dialogue that we hope will allow us to learn from each other to create a brighter future.
