On Monday, April 20, the University of Lynchburg conferred an honorary Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree upon David E. Mittman, PA, DFAAPA, president and chair of the AAPA Board of Directors.
Lynchburg President Dr. Kenneth Garren and School of PA Medicine Dean Dr. Jeremy Welsh, DHSc, JD, PA-C presented the honor during a ceremony held via video conference.
“There has never been a time at a state or national organization that Dave Mittman would not sit down with you and talk with you about how you see the profession, how the profession has influenced your life, and how you see some day that you can contribute to the improvement of that profession,” Welsh said during the presentation.
He added, “This nation of PAs is looking for continued leadership, and we have always been appreciative of the many hours, days, weeks, and years he has committed to us.”
AAPA Interim CEO Lisa Gables echoed Welsh’s appreciation.
“Congratulations to Dave on this much-deserved honor,” Gables said. “His tireless dedication to the PA profession throughout his career has undoubtedly contributed to the growth and strength of today’s PA workforce. From all of us at AAPA – well done, Dr. Mittman!”
