New Law Will Allow PAs in Penn. to Sign Death Certificates

On Friday, July 7, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf approved House Bill 424. The legislation amends the Pennsylvania Vital Statistics Law to allow PAs to sign death certificates. HB 424 was one of The Pennsylvania Society of PAs’ (PSPA) top legislative priorities this year. The bill passed through the House and Senate without opposition. The legislation goes into effect on Sept. 5, 2017.

AAPA supported PSPA in this effort in a variety of ways, including sending out a legislative alert urging PAs in Pennsylvania to contact legislators and voice their support for HB 424. For more information on HB 424, contact Carson Walker, director, constituent organization outreach and advocacy.
