Dr. Kilgore has served as a PA since graduating from the Emory University Physician Associate Program in December 1981. He has practiced in nephrology, oncology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and military medicine. His experience has covered a wide variety of practice settings from outpatient clinics, large medical centers, multispecialty practices, and complex dialysis centers.
Dr. Kilgore served as president and chief executive officer of a pharmaceutical research company for more than 14 years. He has a long and distinguished career in PA education including serving as the program director of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Physician Assistant Studies Program. He currently is interim program director of the Mississippi State University – Meridian Physician Assistant Studies Program. He has served in many leadership positions within the PA profession.
Dr. Kilgore currently practices as a medical provider and the medical director in a free medical clinic for indigent and disadvantaged individuals primarily in the Hispanic community. He serves on multiple boards for the homeless, aviation, and the Alabama Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), focusing his experience on bringing COVID-19 testing to rural and underserved areas. He currently serves as the director of operations for the COVID-19 Vaccination Initiative statewide for the AHEC Program through the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
