Support the next generation of PAs as a New Grad Navigator Mentor. This volunteer opportunity connects experienced and early career PAs with new graduates during their first year of practice, offering guidance, encouragement, and real-world perspective as they navigate job search, onboarding, and early career transitions. Volunteer Requirements:
- Applicants must be current AAPA Fellows at the time of application and commit to maintaining active Fellow membership throughout the 14-month volunteer term
- At least one-year post-graduation with comfort advising new graduate PAs
- Commitment to regular attendance and availability to a small group of mentees.
- Ability to utilize the online AAPA Community and the tools that are available to participants.
Mentor duties and responsibilities:
- Small‑group convening and mentorship
Mentors will be assigned to a small group of participants and are expected to meet with their group virtually on a monthly basis. Meeting timing and format will be determined collaboratively by the mentor and participants. Mentors will receive a monthly discussion guide to help shape conversations around key topics and to further support participants. Mentors are also encouraged to share relevant personal experiences and resources with their group.
- One‑to‑one (1:1) mentorship
Mentors are encouraged to be responsive to mentees and to establish regular “office hours” or check‑ins as appropriate. Participants are encouraged to remain in contact with their mentor throughout the duration of the cohort program.
- Mentor community and leadership development
All mentors will have opportunities to connect with one another, build key leadership skills, and share best practices and group achievements throughout the program year.
Time Commitment:
Total Volunteer Term: 14 months, with possible reappointment. Attend an orientation session for mentors prior to program kickoff. We anticipate a commitment of 3-5 hours per month. All cohort activities will be held virtually.
