What is Hospital Medicine Essentials?

Sponsored by AAPA and the Society of Hospital Medicine, this course will provide PAs and NPs with a broad foundation on commonly encountered diagnoses in hospitalized adult patients. It’s an ideal course if you are new to hospital medicine or if you practice in another specialty but are responsible for the medical management of hospitalized adult patients.

Attendees will dive into the most current, evidence-based topics in hospital medicine while earning AAPA Category 1 CME credits and networking with other practitioners.

• Flexible 4-day schedule that includes half days at the beginning and end of the event full of interactive sessions on adult hospital medicine
• Access to all recorded sessions so attendees can view any sessions they miss or want to review again at their leisure. They will have access to session recordings for 6 months post conference.

NPs can often claim AAPA Category 1 CME credit as continuing education with AANPCB and ANCC. Check with your certification/licensing authority to confirm that AAPA credit is acceptable – and then register for this great conference!

Making a Hotel Room Reservation

A discounted room rate of $219 plus applicable taxes has been secured for attendees and will be available until 11:59 p.m. PT on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026, or until the room block is full. After that time, a room cannot be guaranteed.

Hotel Policies

Check-in time is 4 p.m. and checkout time is 11 a.m. Reservations must be canceled 72 hours prior to arrival to avoid a no-show fee equal to one night’s stay and tax. All reservations and cancellations must be made directly with the hotel.

Flying? The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Nashville Downtown is 12 miles from Nashville International Airport. Hotel shuttle service to and from the airport is not provided; however, there are other transportation options available. Taxi, Uber, and Lyft are among the most popular and affordable options.

On-Site Conference Registration Tips

• Registration is open from 12 – 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 30. Registration reopens on Monday, August 31, at 7 a.m. You only need to check in once at the on-site registration desk.
• Hospital Medicine Essentials is BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Use your smartphone, computer, or tablet to answer questions in CME sessions that use audience response system technology.
• Meeting rooms might get cold. Don’t forget your sweater or light jacket!

Electronic Handouts

There is no paper syllabus for this course. Lecture materials will be available in AAPA’s Learning Central before the conference start date.

Course Evaluations and CME Certificate

Your feedback helps us plan future conferences; therefore, your completion of course evaluations is a prerequisite for a CME certificate. The course evaluations/CME certificate will be available in AAPA’s Learning Central starting on Sunday, August 30, 2026. All session evaluations will be due Oct. 31, 2026.

Accessing Session Recordings

Session recordings for 2026 Hospital Medicine Essentials Conference will be available in AAPA’s Learning Central a few weeks after the conference concludes. You will receive an email once they are available with more details on how to access the recordings.

You will have access to the session recordings until February 28, 2027.

Conference Policies

• Attendee guests are not allowed to attend any meal functions without prior authorization from AAPA.
• No children, including infants, under the age of 18 are allowed inside the session rooms.
• No photos or videos may be taken inside the session rooms.
• Registered attendees must wear their official conference name badge to access conference events. The badge is nontransferable.
• Smoking (including vapor cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco) is prohibited in all indoor areas.

Harassment of conference participants or AAPA staff in any form is prohibited. Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to offensive verbal comments, expressed or implied threat of physical or professional harm, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
