Thank you for your consideration of me for a position as a Nominating Work Group member. Currently, I am the chair of the Nominating Work Group and would love the opportunity to serve for another term to continue with the incredible group of PAs that serve on this work group. During this last year, the Nominating Work Group team and I developed a robust competencies-based evaluation utilizing national standards from the American Society of Association Executives. I have also worked with our current AAPA President and Chair of the Commission on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to build competencies for candidate evaluation and strategies that the Nominating Work Group can build upon to better fulfill the charges of the group – from opening the door with conversations and outreach to constituent organizations to encourage members to nominate for AAPA elections. As an earlier career PA, I believe it is valuable and important to have a younger voice on the work group and to help diversify the group in terms of years of practice. I am and have been actively involved at the state level including past president, serving in many board positions, and chair of multiple committees, and member of the House since 2012. Throughout these different avenues of involvement and in the current healthcare climate and pandemic crisis, I have had to work through and help innovate different ways to communicate with patients, students, and within various organizations. I have been the chair of the Early Career PA Commission, chair of the Colorado Academy of PAs Public Affairs Committee (leveraged social media to increase engagement and improved the Colorado Academy of PAs applicant pool), a member of the Huddle Launch Team and have helped develop ideas and improve ways to reach our members and I want to continue to bring knowledge and innovation to the Nominating Work Group. This has also allowed me to meet many PAs from various backgrounds and perspectives that I would help encourage to run for positions and develop into future leaders. I hope to continue to bring my perspectives and experiences as an earlier career PA, CO Board member, HOD delegate, and current chair of the Nominating Work Group to help develop and encourage candidates to apply who will encourage the growth of the profession. Combining what I have learned from this past year on the Nominating Work Group and my past experiences, I feel I bring a valuable perspective and leadership ability to join us together to elevate the work of the Nominating Work Group.
