The First Five Years as a PA: What Matters Most and What Doesn’t
Date: June 23, 7–8 p.m. ET
PAs in their first five years of practice are invited to join PA Matt Wetherhold for an informal discussion on navigating the early years of clinical practice. Drawing from more than two decades of experience in surgical practice and leadership, PA Wetherhold will share practical insights on what truly matters during the first years as a PA, and what new clinicians often spend too much time worrying about!
The session will explore common early-career challenges including building clinical confidence, developing strong working relationships with physicians and teams, learning how to think through complex patient care decisions, and understanding how professional growth evolves over time. The discussion will also address expectations, career development, and how to focus energy on the skills and habits that make the biggest difference early in practice.
The session will conclude with an open conversation where participants can ask questions, share experiences, and connect with peers navigating similar stages in their careers. Attendees will leave with practical perspectives and strategies to help them build confidence, focus on meaningful growth, and approach the early years of practice with clarity and purpose.
