Stop Healthcare Obstruction
It’s time to strengthen and unify the healthcare system! Join AAPA in our efforts to put a stop to the American Medical Association’s (AMA) divisive “scope creep” campaign. PAs stand with patients in our fight against healthcare obstruction.
What is the AMA “Scope Creep” Campaign?
The “scope creep” campaign is an effort led by the AMA to restrict the roles and responsibilities of PAs and other healthcare providers.
It claims that PAs are seeking to expand their scope of practice beyond their traditional roles, which the AMA says will compromise patient safety and disrupt established healthcare hierarchies.
However, PAs know this campaign mischaracterizes proposed policy changes, which are designed to modernize PA practice laws and improve patient access to care. The campaign also erodes patient trust of PAs in team-based healthcare.
