Lifestyle, Intervention, Follow-up, and Training (LIFT) Program

About the LIFT Focus Groups

Nearly 40% of adults in Louisiana have obesity, defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher. Obesity is a complex chronic disease that can cause serious health problems including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, many types of cancers, chronic kidney disease, and more.

Ochsner Health (Ochsner), in collaboration with the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), is implementing the employee-focused Lifestyle, Intervention, Follow-up, and Training Program (LIFT). The program aims to support Ochsner employees in accessing employee benefits including nutritional counseling, discounted gym memberships, weight loss programs, bariatric surgery, and/or GLP-1s to manage obesity. We want to hear perspectives from Ochsner employees enrolled in the Ochsner Health Plan and primary care providers at Ochsner to better understand the barriers to accessing obesity care and explore strategies to provide obesity care more effectively.

We are recruiting patients, primary care providers, and other clinic staff who work or receive care at the Jefferson Highway Campus, Kenner, or Northshore locations to participate in a 90-minute Zoom focus group as part of a quality improvement initiative. Participants will be invited to share their experiences accessing or providing obesity care services. You will receive a $50 Amazon e-gift card as a thank-you for your time and participation.
