Suspended/Waived Practice Requirements
This map shows the states that have taken action to suspend or waive certain practice requirements for PAs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, eight states (Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Louisiana, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Virginia) have waived or suspended supervision requirements by executive order. It will be updated on a rolling basis as states continue to temporarily suspend or waive existing supervision and practice requirements for PAs.
Note: As declared states of emergency expire or are terminated, AAPA encourages readers to visit the applicable state website(s) of the issuing governor, mayor, regulatory board or state agency to determine if executive and board orders or other guidance documents remain in effect.
- Suspension/waiver of supervision requirements by Executive Order
- Suspension/waiver of all or partial supervision requirements by existing statute or regulation
- Only suspension/waiver of select practice requirements (licensure, ratios, telemedicine, etc.)
- No action taken
