Definition: A series of educational sessions held by a hospital, health system, clinic, medical school or other duty-of-care provider that occurs at set intervals on an ongoing basis (such as weekly, monthly or quarterly) and which are primarily planned by and presented to the organization’s own staff. Examples include grand rounds, tumor boards and M&M conferences.
On demand recordings of individual sessions within a regularly scheduled series may be awarded the same CME credit(s) as the original in-person activity if an evaluation is submitted by the learner before the next regularly scheduled activity within the series.
Accreditation Period: One year from the date of approval.
Type of Credit Issued: AAPA Category 1 CME credit
Eligibility Criteria
- Only hospitals, health systems, clinics, medical schools and other duty-of-care providers are eligible for this request type.
- The activity must comply with AAPA CME Criteria (PDF).
- CME topics must be determined by a representative planning committee and based on the needs of the PAs practicing within the institution.
- All planning committee members must complete disclosure forms and disclose any relevant financial relationships to attendees.
- All faculty members must complete disclosure forms and disclose any relevant financial relationships to attendees. Providers should maintain faculty disclosure forms for the duration of their approval.
- Each session must include an evaluation mechanism designed to assess:
- The extent to which the program meets the identified needs
- Indicators of the quality or impact of the program
- Feedback from participants about the scientific caliber of the program
- Suggestions for improving the program
