Dual Membership Task Force (joint with AAPA’s Board of Directors)
Join fellow members, student members, and HOD delegates in exploring alternative membership and dues models to strengthen AAPA and constituent organizations. This task force will assess opportunities, gather stakeholder input, and develop recommendations for the Board of Directors and House of Delegates, with a final report to the 2027 House of Delegates.

Charges:
- Investigate alternative membership structures and dues models that strengthen both AAPA and constituent organizations.
- Evaluate the feasibility, financial, governance, legal, operational, and technology implications of potential alternate membership and dues models.
- Engage constituent organizations, AAPA members, and other stakeholders to identify priorities, opportunities, and barriers.
- Identify any required bylaws, policy, operational, or technology changes needed to implement the recommendations, and if appropriate, prepare a resolution(s) to formalize changes.
- Report findings and recommendations to the 2027 House of Delegates.
Time Commitment:
- The work of the task force is estimated to take one year to complete. A report will be due to the HOD and Board of Directors in May 2027.

Philosophy of Practice Task Force
Join fellow members, student members, and HOD delegates to fulfill HOD Resolution 2026-A-17, which was referred for further study during the 2026 House of Delegates meeting. This task force will evaluate a proposed philosophy of practice for the PA profession, engage stakeholders to identify opportunities and concerns, assess governance and operational implications. The task force will report its findings and recommendations to the 2027 House of Delegates.

Charges:
- Evaluate the need for a formal philosophy of physician associate practice.
- Review the evidence, literature, and experience of other health professions regarding the adoption of professional philosophies or practice frameworks.
- Assess the potential benefits, risks, and unintended consequences of adopting a formal philosophy of physician associate practice.
- Engage relevant stakeholders to gather input regarding the value and implications of such a framework.
- Develop recommendations, including whether a formal philosophy should be adopted and, if appropriate, proposed language and implementation considerations, and if appropriate, prepare a resolution(s) to formalize changes.
- Report findings and recommendations to the 2027 House of Delegates.
Time Commitment:
- The work of the task force is estimated to take one year to complete. A report will be due to the HOD and Board of Directors in May 2027.

Designation for Excellence Task Force (joint with AAPA’s Board of Directors)
Join fellow members, student members, and HOD delegates in exploring the development of a designation for institutions that demonstrate excellence in the utilization of PAs. This continuing task force was established after 2025 HOD and will keep assessing existing recognition programs, evaluate the potential benefits and challenges of a PA-focused designation, and develop recommendations for the Board of Directors and House of Delegates, with a final report to the 2027 House of Delegates.

Charges:
- Assess the current market of recognition awards in healthcare, such as the ANCC Magnet recognition program, and the impact and/or influence on employment of specific professions.
- Review past AAPA’s Center for Healthcare Leadership and Management Employers of Excellence award for details including but not limited to, criteria for the award, success and challenges of the previous award that resulted in the discontinuation.
- Consider the potential to re-envision a PA-focused institution of excellence award and how it may positively impact PA employment in accordance with 2025 House resolution B-16.
- Consider the cost versus benefit/impact of a PA-focused award of recognition for AAPA and employers/institutions/health systems.
Time Commitment:
- The work of this continuing task force is estimated to take one year. A report will be due to the HOD and Board of Directors in May 2027

Standing Rules Committee (SCR)
Help review and refine the Standing Rules to ensure alignment with bylaws, improve efficiency, and address directives from the House Speakers.

Charges:
- Review the Standing Rules for:
- Any conflicts based on bylaws and policies passed during the previous year’s HOD meeting.
- Any perceived inefficiencies or clarifications needed to facilitate the work of the HOD.
- Any specific charges by the Speaker of the House.
- Submit a report of proposed recommendations for consideration by delegates at the next HOD meeting.
Time Commitment:
- 5 to 10 hours of virtual meetings and additional offline policy review
Experience:
- Understanding of Governance and Parliamentary Procedure.
- Familiarity with bylaws, standing rules, and procedural frameworks.
- Ability to review, interpret, and revise complex documents with precision.
- Familiarity with the House of Delegates (HOD) structure and its role in AAPA preferred but not required.

House Policy Review Committee (HPRC)
Play a vital role in shaping AAPA policy by reviewing assigned policies in consultation with leadership, constituent organizations, and subject matter experts. Volunteers will help develop resolutions and recommendations for consideration at the 2026 House of Delegates meeting.

- Review current AAPA policies assigned by the House Officers consulting with other leadership groups, Constituent Organizations, or subject matter experts.
- Submit resolutions/recommendations on each assigned policy for the 2026 HOD.
Time Commitment:
- 5 to 10 hours of virtual meetings and additional offline policy review.
Experience:
- Experience reviewing, drafting, or revising organizational policies.
- Ability to assess policy implications for the PA profession.
- Proficiency in articulating policy recommendations and rationale.
- Familiarity with the House of Delegates (HOD) structure and its role in AAPA preferred but not required.

HOD Sergeant-at-Arms
The Sergeant-at-Arms plays an important role in ensuring the efficient and orderly conduct of House of Delegates proceedings. Appointed by the Speaker, the Sergeant-at-Arms serves as a key resource to House Officers, delegates, and meeting participants while helping maintain the integrity of the parliamentary process. The Sergeant-at-Arms also chairs the Credentialing Committee and serves on the Standing Rules Committee.

- Preserving order during House of Delegates meetings and supporting compliance with House rules and decorum standards.
- Maintaining security and access to the House floor during meetings.
- Coordinating the replacement of voting delegates with credentialed extra delegates as needed during House proceedings.
- Serving as Chair of the Credentialing Committee, including delegate and constituent organization credential verification and conflict-of-interest review processes.
- Assisting House Officers in addressing procedural and decorum matters during meetings.
- Collaborating with the Chief Teller during in-person meetings to supervise floor access and support House voting activities.
- Serving as a member of the Standing Rules Committee to help review and recommend updates to House procedures.
Ideal Candidates:
- Have prior House of Delegates experience and an interest in parliamentary procedure.
- Demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to remain impartial.
- Are comfortable working with delegates, House Officers, and staff in a fast-paced meeting environment.
- Have strong organizational and communication skills.
Time Commitment:
- Participation in HOD meetings, pre-meeting credentialing activities, and periodic committee work throughout the year.
