Spine Disease and Surgical Intervention: Disc Arthroplasty – Refuse to Fuse

Back pain can be managed conservatively in most cases. However, many patients with back problems might still require surgical intervention, after which their primary care physician will continue to follow them.
This lecture is designed to help navigate the various surgical procedures a spine patient may endure, with a notable description of disc arthroplasty versus spinal fusion, one of the more controversial topics in spine surgery for the last 20 years. The aim is to enlighten the primary care practitioner to this sometimes elusive world of spine surgery.
