Announcing the fully virtual AAPA 2021 Conference

Why is AAPA going fully virtual for AAPA 2021?

We have made the decision to proceed only with the virtual option for AAPA 2021 given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19. We are not proceeding with the in-person portion of AAPA 2021 in Philadelphia, PA. Though a difficult decision, our Board of Directors feels that this is the safest and wisest decision after careful analysis and consideration of all associated implications. Most important to us is the health and safety of PAs and your patients, as well as students, exhibitors, sponsors, and staff.

Our fully virtual conference will offer PAs 150+ credits of CME, safe and easy ways to network, complete flexibility, and more!

What happens to my current AAPA 2021 in-person registration?

There is no need to contact AAPA about canceling your registration. All registrants will automatically be converted to the Virtual conference registration.

Will I get a receipt for this change in registration?

Yes, once your registration has been converted from in-person to virtual, you will receive an updated confirmation email.

How do I cancel my hotel room?

If you booked your hotel through AAPA, it will be automatically canceled. If you booked with the hotel directly, contact them to cancel.

What happens with the House of Delegates meeting and Title Change Investigation?

The House of Delegates (HOD) and all of its components will also go virtual. Check out the agenda to see the exact schedule of events.

Will there be a single-day registration option for the virtual conference?

No. The only registration option for the virtual conference will be for the full conference experience. If you purchased a single-day registration for the in-person event that was planned in Philadelphia, AAPA will contact you directly with your options.

Why is the registration rate the same for virtual as it was for in-person?

The virtual conference that we are planning is very robust to include all the things that you expect from our in-person conference and more. This includes high quality CME content, networking events, exhibit hall, ePosters, Product Theaters, Satellite Symposia, Challenge Bowl, PA Foundation’s Party for a Purpose event, and much more. In order to recreate the experience and content PAs are used to receiving, the technical requirements for the platform and support to operate that platform are significant. Also, the virtual conference platform will be open for an additional 30 days following the conference to give ultimate flexibility to attendees. AAPA 2021 will offer the most CME credits to AAPA conference attendees than ever before, and for the first time ever we are including the Conference On Demand 2021: Full Library in the registration fee when it is normally an additional charge and a value of $599. For these reasons we felt it important to keep the rate to reflect the quality of the offering and to provide an experience that PAs expect.

Where and when is the AAPA 2021 Conference?

The conference will be held Sunday, May 23 through Wednesday, May 26. This will be a fully virtual event that you can participate in from anywhere and on your own schedule.

Will session content also be accessible on demand?

Yes, registration to AAPA 2021 this year includes access to on demand content.

How can I support AAPA’s Political Action Committee (PA PAC) during Conference?

AAPA members can make a donation through the conference registration portal, or by going to www.aapa.org/PAC at any time.

Education & CME

How many CME credits can I potentially earn at this meeting?

AAPA 2021 will offer the most CME credits to AAPA conference attendees ever, as attendees will have access to both live CME and Conference on Demand 2021 for CME credits.

Attendees can earn 10.75 AAPA Category 1 CME credits between May 23-26, 2021 with the live CME. Conference on Demand 2021 will provide an additional 150+ AAPA Category 1 CME credits.

How else can I contribute to CME at Conference?

If you are interested in contributing to the content of the conference, you can submit a presentation idea during the Call for Presentations and/or you can volunteer to be a grader and review the submitted presentation ideas to help determine the content for the next conference. The call opens in May 2021 for the 2022 conference. 2022 grader sign up will be available in June 2021. Deadline for conference submissions and grader applications for AAPA 2022 will close July 31, 2021.

How long will I have access to CME content?

AAPA 2021 Virtual Conference Platform and all the conference content will be available from the start of conference until June 26.

After June 26, you will still have access to the CME sessions, as conference attendees receive AAPA 2021 Conference on Demand as part of their registration. You can access the CME sessions via AAPA’s Learning Central until May 31, 2022.

Can students still access CME sessions?

Yes! Student conference attendees will have access to both the live and on-demand CME sessions during the conference. All conference attendees will have access to all of the sessions in the conference portal through June 26, 2021. Students will not be able to complete the evaluations or receive a CME certificate for any of the CME sessions that they attend.
