Research in Action & Research Rounds
Friday, May 15 – Tuesday, May 19
The AAPA 2026 call for submissions is open Dec. 1, 2025 through Jan. 11, 2026.
Research must be about the PA profession or PA education or conducted by PAs and/or PA students. Research in Action and Research Rounds presentations are CME activities. You will be asked to submit for Research in Action or ePosters only. If your submission is not accepted as a Research in Action presentation, you may be accepted as an ePoster or as part of a Research Round.
We’re always looking for quality improvement projects that led to better patient outcomes or team performance; demonstration projects that show how PAs can improve care for an underserved population; small sample pilot studies that you want to share with others to build up to a larger multi-center study; or any interesting case studies.
At AAPA 2026, we’re looking for presentation proposals related to the following themes:
PA Role and Practice
Research in this area may address the reach of the PA profession; PAs roles on, as well as the dynamics of, medical teams with a focus on team collaboration; innovations into the expanded roles of PAs; and how legislation and systems influence the way PAs practice.
PA Value and Impact
Research in this area may address the role PAs play in providing quality healthcare, improving patient satisfaction, or increasing access to care. It may also address public awareness or perceptions of PAs, or PA utilization as it relates to the cost effectiveness or medical liabilities of healthcare.
Understanding the PA Workforce
Research in this area may address issues of diversity with the profession; PA specialization trends; the ability for PAs to have career flexibility; workforce projections; or how national and state practice barriers are impacting PAs.
Industry Sponsored Research
AAPA will consider submissions for ePosters or Research in Action with industry or medical education company involvement or sponsorship if a PA is involved in the research.
Encore Presentations
AAPA will consider encore presentations. Encore presentations are presentation that have been presented at other conferences. AAPA reserves the right to reject encore presentations if there are more high-quality submissions than there is space for them.
Acceptance
Selection for participation in the ePoster Sessions, Research Rounds, and Research in Action will be based on quality of the research, clarity of the abstract, and adherence to the submission guidelines.
Support PA Research
One simple way you can support PA research is to become a peer reviewer. All Research presentations and ePosters rely on peer reviewers to maintain the high quality of submissions and participants. If you are interested in becoming a peer reviewer for AAPA ePosters and Research in Action, let us know today.
We are also looking for moderators for both Research in Action and Research Rounds. Please let us know if you are interested by emailing us at [email protected].
Presentation Formats
Research in Action: 25-minute time block. Prepare to speak for approximately 20 minutes and answer questions for five minutes. (CME; includes honorarium for one speaker per session; CME room)
ePoster Research Rounds: 25-minute time block. Three authors speak for six minutes each and have time available at the end to meet with attendees. (CME; CME room)
ePoster Meet the Authors: 60-minute time block. Ten authors speak for four minutes each and have time available at the end to meet within attendees. (non-CME; Expo Hall)
