Student Symposium: Genetics and Precision Medicine in PA Practice

PA students: Join the PA Foundation for a symposium featuring the National Institutes of Health’s All of Us Research Program, a longitudinal effort to gather health data from a diverse group of one million or more participants living in the U.S. to accelerate research and improve health. The event will feature a presentation from All of Us Chief Engagement Officer Karriem Watson, DHSc, MS, MPH, on the types of research that can be done using the data being collected, diversity among participants and researchers utilizing the data, the scientific framework of the program, and more. Plus, Nguyen H. Park, MS, PA-C, DFAAPA, will discuss the importance of genetics in healthcare delivery and practice, touching on topics of relevance to PA students such as:

  • Career pathways into genetics
  • The genetics workforce gap
  • Rotations in medical genetics and other educational opportunities for students
  • Pharmacogenomics
  • Incorporating genetics into everyday practice

There will also be a panel discussion and Q&A.
