Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in America. Prevention of cardiovascular disease is a lifetime opportunity to empower and bring awareness to individuals, families, communities and the healthcare system. PAs can play a key role in improving the heart health of Americans.
Guidelines and Recommendations
While AAPA does not have a specific policy on cardiovascular disease, we do have policy on health promotion and disease prevention (PDF), "Physician Assistants - Roles in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention [Adopted 1994, amended 2004 and 2009]," which is critical for cardiovascular disease.
