March 1, 2016 – A new report written by the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) named PAs (physician assistants) as one of the providers best suited to lead healthcare teams under new team-based models. The report represents more than a year of collaborative efforts by a multidisciplinary healthcare task force of 20 national medical organizations representing physicians, PAs and advanced practice nurses. North Carolina Adds PA-Designated Seat to Medical Board

Aug. 12, 2015 - Underscoring the important role physician assistants (PAs) play in medicine, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory signed a bill yesterday establishing a designated PA seat on the North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB). In North Carolina, PAs are the fastest growing group of medical providers licensed by the board, having increased almost 25 percent since 2010. More than 5,000 PAs are now licensed to practice medicine in the state. Read More

Passage of 'PA Modernization Act' Will Greatly Enhance Access to Quality Healthcare in Ohio

July 17, 2015 — This week, the Ohio governor and state lawmakers took a vital step to ensure Ohioans, who have faced a medical provider shortage with potential severe healthcare consequences, have increased access to quality medical providers by enacting Senate Bill 110 (SB 110). Medicare Reform Law Is Good News for America’s PAs and their Patients

April 27, 2015 - PAs won a significant victory in the bipartisan Medicare reform legislation that was signed into law by President Obama on April 16, 2015. The statute includes an increase in Medicare payment rates for PAs and other providers for each of the next five years, reduces a number of barriers to effective PA practice under the Medicare program, and elevates the profile of PAs as vital healthcare providers to America’s seniors.
