Apply for AAPA Small Research Grants by November 7
2021-2022 Focus on Optimal Team Practice and Response to COVID-19
October 20, 2021
AAPA invites qualified researchers to apply for a Small Research Grant (SRG) which will support new research to be submitted for publication and presentation at national conferences. Funds for the 2021-2022 cycle will be prioritized for research which examines issues related to Optimal Team Practice, showing that PAs provide safe, high-quality and cost-effective care; and research that highlights PA roles during the COVID-19 pandemic as leaders in vaccination efforts.
AAPA has allocated $50,000 in total funds to be disbursed in 2021. Applications are due November 7, 2021, and the first grant will be awarded by December 2021.
“It’s critical for PAs to engage in research related to the profession so that we have clear evidence that PAs provide high-quality, cost-effective care on healthcare teams,” says Noel Smith, AAPA senior director of PA and industry research and analysis. “We want to build the body of work that can be shared in publications and in presentations that supports PA practices.”
Noel Smith at [email protected] will host questions on the call for proposals on Friday, October 22, from 12 to 1 p.m. ET.
The SRG program is intended to support the research of PAs who do not have access to institutional resources such as time from teaching or clinical practice, access to graduate student support, internal funding, or grant-writing resources. This seed funding will help individuals build their research portfolio and successfully apply for larger grants.
Applicants must be an AAPA member, indicate their Institutional Review Board (IRB) status (completed or intent to submit), be able to complete the research project within 18 months of receiving the award, agree to submit research findings for presentation at AAPA’s annual conference after the project’s conclusion, and acknowledge AAPA and the SRG program in all scholarly work resulting from the funding project.
Funding will be allocated on a per project need basis with the maximum award of $20,000. Most grants will be awarded at a level between $3,000 to $7,000.
