7 Reasons You Should Attend Shaking Hands and Taking Names
Don’t miss this student event at AAPA 2018
April 20, 2018
Shaking Hands and Taking Names is a casual and fun networking event that brings PA students together from all over the country. Don’t miss this chance to socialize, share, and network with fellow PA students. Shaking Hands and Taking Names will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.
1. You can wear whatever you want.
Seriously, no special fancy dress is needed.
2. You don’t want to miss out on the fun giveaways or photo opportunities.
3. There will be snacks!
Have some snacks while you get to know your fellow PA students, and then head out for a great dinner in New Orleans with your new friends.
4. It might help you land your next job.
That PA student you meet from California just might be a lead to help find your first job in San Francisco.
5. You’ll get to learn more about leadership opportunities.
AAPA’s Board members often stop by Shaking Hands and Taking Names. You’ll get a chance to network with them and ask your questions about getting involved in leadership positions.
6. You’ll meet the Student Academy Board of Directors.
The Student Academy’s Assembly of Representatives (AOR) annually elects and appoints PA student leaders who represent PA students around the country. These students (and early career PAs) represent you!
7. You’ll be able to experience networking in a low-pressure environment.
Not everyone is comfortable networking, but it is an important job-searching skill. This is a great way to network in an accommodating, low-stakes environment. You’ll be able to practice your small talk and perfect your personal pitch, too.
