What is the AAPA Board of Directors?
The 14-member Board of Directors is AAPA’s governing body, delegated fiduciary responsibility for the management of the organization. The duties of the directors include duty of care, loyalty and obedience:
Duty of Care — requires, among other things, that Directors demonstrate a strong interest in and understanding of AAPA’s mission, goals and business within the context in which AAPA operates. Each board member has a legal responsibility to participate actively in making decisions on behalf of the organization and to exercise his or her best judgment while doing so.
Duty of Loyalty — requires each board member to put the interests of the organization before their personal and professional interests when acting on behalf of the organization in a decision-making capacity.
Duty of Obedience — requires that Directors comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, adhere to the organization’s bylaws and remain the guardians of the mission.
What do I need to know about the 2018 AAPA General Election?
A general election for the AAPA Board is held each year. For the 2018-2019 term, there are four open positions: President-elect, Secretary-Treasurer and two Director-at-Large seats.
AAPA’s bylaws state that you must have at least three distinct years of leadership experience over the past five years. To learn more and apply, visit the BOD Election web page.
