Burden and Management of Hyperkalemia

Hyperkalemia is a highly prevalent condition that contributes to a significant burden on healthcare systems. This talk focuses on the causes, burden, and management of hyperkalemia.


Speaker: Ted Okerson, MD

Ted Okerson, MD, is board-certified in Internal Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology, and a Fellow of The Obesity Society. Okerson received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Oral Roberts University and went on to complete a residency/chief residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California Irvine (UCI). He then entered full-time clinical practice in Yorba Linda, and was one of the founders of St. Jude Heritage Medical Group (now Providence Health Care) where he focused on the prevention and aggressive treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic disease. He was also board-certified as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension. He also has nineteen years of experience as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCI in the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension.
