Transparency

Data and information are increasingly being used to improve the delivery of health services. Patients, payers, researchers, health policy officials and other stakeholders all require relevant and actionable data to improve care quality, productivity and efficiency. Too often data regarding medical and surgical services provided by PAs are either missing or incomplete due to billing conventions, such as “incident to” billing that distort or hide the services delivered by PAs. This lack of transparency in the billing and claims data makes it nearly impossible to understand the increasingly important role PAs play in delivering quality care to patients.
