2024 AAPA Elections Timeline

The dates below reflect important milestones pertinent to the Board of Directors (BOD) General Election, the House of Delegates (HOD) Elections, including the House Officers and the Nominating Committee (NomCom), and the Student Academy (SA) Election.

January 26 Any current BOD member planning to run for an alternate position mid-term, which per APAA Bylaws would require them to resign their current position effective June 30, must pre-declare their candidacy to run for the alternative office to the Senior Director of Governance. This is to ensure any resulting 2024-2025 vacancy may be published as an open position for potential candidates.
February 2 BOD General Election and House Officer candidate application forms open.
February 23 Deadline to file initial BOD General and House Officer candidate applications.
February 12-March 15 NomCom evaluates BOD General and House Officer candidates and selects endorsed slate of candidates.
March 1 Candidate applications open for Student Academy and NomCom Elections.
March 18-March 27 Non-endorsed candidates decide whether to run self-declared.
March 27
  • Deadline to file NomCom and Student Academy candidate applications.
  • Deadline for BOD General and House Officer candidates to submit official declaration forms with materials that will be included on candidate web pages.
April 18
  • BOD General, House Officer, NomCom, and Student Academy candidate webpages launched.
  • All election candidates announced to members via email.
April 24 Virtual Student Academy Meet the Candidates Forum (8:30-9:30 p.m. ET)
April/May TBD Virtual BOD Election Candidate Roundtables
May 2-4 Date eligible voters in HOD elections (House Officers and NomCom) must be current fellow/student members. (Actual date depends upon HOD agenda).
May 5 Date eligible voters in BOD and Student Academy elections must be current fellow/student/retired members.
May 17-19 Meet the Candidates Forum for House Officers and NomCom candidates held at the HOD. (Date and time dependent upon HOD agenda).
May 17-19 House Officer and NomCom Election is held at the House of Delegates Meeting. (Date and time dependent upon HOD agenda).
May 20 Meet the Candidates Forum for BOD General Elections at AAPA 2024 (10:45 a.m. – 12 p.m.).
May 20 Voting opens for the BOD General and Student Academy Elections.
June 3 Voting closes for the BOD General and Student Academy Elections.
June 4 Results announced for the BOD General and Student Academy Elections.
July 1 The 2024-2025 Leadership Year begins.
