2020 AAPA Awards

AAPA Awards include Individual Excellence Awards, for which individuals can apply or be nominated, along with the Eugene A. Stead Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award, for which one must be nominated. The 2020 application closed on February 17. See the 2020 AAPA Award recipients.

Individual Excellence Awards

We know there are a lot of amazing PAs out there. That’s why AAPA’s Annual Awards recognize PAs’ contributions to their patients, to their profession, and to healthcare. These awards include: PA of the Year, PA Student of the Year, Military Service, AAPA/PAEA Preceptor of the Year, Publishing, and Outstanding Student Society. PA of the Year Award

This award honors PAs who, within the course of a one-year period, demonstrate exemplary service to the
community; exemplify the PA profession’s philosophy of providing accessible, quality healthcare to all; and
further the image of the profession in a positive, meaningful way. Applicants must be current AAPA members in
good standing. 2020 PA of the Year Award Recipient

PA Student of the Year Award

This award honors a PA student who has demonstrated exemplary service and leadership as a PA student. Applicants must be current AAPA members in good standing. 2020 PA Student of the Year Award Recipient

Military Service Award

This award honors veteran or active duty PAs who have demonstrated exemplary healthcare service to their community, to current members of the military or veterans, or to the medically underserved. Applicants must be current AAPA members in good standing. 2020 Military Service Award Recipient

AAPA/PAEA Preceptor of the Year Award

This award honors preceptors who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in the clinical education of PA students as mentors and instructors. PA applicants must be current AAPA members in good standing. Individuals who are preceptors to PA students but are not PAs are not required to be AAPA members. This award is given in collaboration with the PA Education Association. 2020 Preceptor of the Year Award Recipient

Publishing Award

This award is granted to a PA who published, during the prior calendar year, a new clinical or research article expressing original and/or scientifically rigorous ideas substantiated by best practices, and contributing to the advancement of the PA profession. Applicants must be current AAPA members in good standing. 2019 Publishing Award Recipient

Outstanding Student Society

This award recognizes one student society for outstanding service to the profession in the areas of public education and advocacy; public service and outreach; promotion of diversity; and professional involvement. At least 75 percent of the applying PA program must be AAPA members in good standing. 2020 Outstanding Student Society

Eugene A. Stead Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award

This award honors a lifetime of achievement that has had a broad and significant impact on the PA profession. Recipients are not required to be PAs. However, PA nominees must be current AAPA members in good standing. Retired PA nominees must have been an AAPA member in good standing prior to retirement. 2020 Eugene A.
