Get
Involved
As a member of AAPA, your participation
is valued and encouraged. Get involved as soon as possible. Go to
your next constituent meeting. Let them know how you feel
about issues that concern you. Volunteer to serve when you hear
about calls for participation. The more active you become, the greater
are your personal rewards as a member of AAPA and as a physician
assistant.

AAPA members may earn recognition as a Distinguished Fellow of the
AAPA through professional distinction and leadership, PA organization
involvement, commitment to lifelong learning, and community service.
The Distinguished Fellow recognition program promotes a broad range
of professional and community participation and provides an opportunity
for recognition of PA accomplishments in organizations and communities.
The Leadership Identification Program is designed to identify PAs
who are interested in leadership positions within AAPA.
Your first step toward greater involvement is to become active in
your constituent chapter. There are chapters in all 50 states, the
District of Columbia, the Air Force, Army, Navy, Public Health Service,
and Department of Veteran Affairs.
The Academy appoints AAPA members to be representatives to a number
of different medical, clinical, and political organizations. Calls
for applications are published in AAPA News and on AAPA's leadership
postings web page.
As a member of AAPA, you can be active without being part of the
Academy's formal governing structure.
