U.S. Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) acknowledged National PA Week in remarks last week on the House floor. Rising to address the House, she stated, “Mr. Speaker, as we mark the final day of PA week, I ask my colleagues to join me in celebrating the contribution, as well as the promise of the PA profession.” Ms. Bass talked about the history and future of the PA profession, as well as her personal history as a PA. “I know firsthand the key role of the PA profession in the delivery of care. Before serving in office, I worked for nearly a decade as a PA and served as a clinical instructor who trained future PAs.” Rep. Bass’ statement on PA week is printed in the October 12, 2011 Congressional Record; and a video of the address may be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGRcVG3706Y.
