In the immediate hours and days following the earthquake that hit Haiti on Jan. 12, PAs joined medical teams headed for the island nation. As part of our continuing coverage on the Haiti relief effort, PA Pro NOW will periodically run a roundup of news stories and blogs concerning PAs who have answered the call. PAs, such as Eric Holden, PA-C, who was recently featured on PA Lisa Dandrea Lenell's ReachMD program.

From ReachMD's website: "Eric Holden hasn't had time to eat or sleep much since arriving in Haiti. He's one of two PAs on the team of NYC Medics, a medical volunteer organization treating the sick and injured following the devastating earthquake in Haiti. In their first two days on the job, he and his team of medical professionals treated more than 800 patients, traveling from makeshift tent city to tent city, providing care where it's needed. ReachMD Host Lisa Dandrea Lenell, PA-C, talks to Holden from the front lines of the medical tent where he and his group NYC medics have teamed up with the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne division to treat everything from pelvic fractures to dehydration. They discuss the difficulty in treating patients without the proper drugs and medical supplies."
