Frequently the Joint Commission will post proposed changes to existing standards or new standards on their Web page. This is an opportunity for all interested parties to offer comments on how standards or language in the standards may impact their place of employment or practice. The AAPA strongly encourages PAs, employers, and administrators to review the standards and submit their comments to the Joint Commission.

If you do submit comments to the Joint Commission on any field reviews, please contact the AAPA Professional Affairs staff at 703/836-2272 ext. 3414 or pspurlock@aapa.org and make them aware of your contribution.

If the Joint Commission does not hear from PAs, PA employers, and supportive administrators, standards and language that can negatively impact PA practice and opportunities will continue to be approved.
