Constituent Organization Award of Achievement Overview
Purpose

Constituent organizations are eligible for three awards, the Constituent Organization Award of Achievement, the Constituent Organization Public Education Achievement Award, and the SAAAPA Constituent Organization Award.

The Award of Achievement is presented by the AAPA Constituent Relations Committee (CRC) to recognize PA constituent organizations that bring together a group of people to serve a common, unique and creative goal. The committee encourages constituent organizations to increase involvement in mission-based initiatives, programs, and events. The award seeks to encourage constituent leaders of PA organizations to develop and implement ways to improve the organization and advance the PA profession.

Announcement of Winners

Constituent Organization Award of Achievement winners will be announced at AAPA's annual conference and posted on the AAPA Web site. Past Award of Excellence winning organizations are also listed.

Deadline

The deadline for submission is January 15.

Entry Procedures

Criteria:

  • All applicants must be a recognized PA constituent organization in good standing with AAPA.
  • Applications will be evaluated based on:
    • The innovation (creativity/uniqueness) of the initiative, program, or event to the organization.
    • How the initiative, program, or event was relevant to the mission or goals of the organization.
    • How the project, program, or event encouraged involvement by members, students, organization leaders, and/or the community.
    • How the organization planned the activity, as well as measured the results or outcome of the initiative, program, or event.
    • How the organization used AAPA resources or aligned with AAPA initiatives.

Format for application:

  • Fill out on-line application.
  • Attach electronic materials to the on-line form or send CD, DVD, tape, bulleted outline, written essay, photo essay.
  • Include any other relevant supplemental information such as pamphlets, brochures, pictures with the application. 
  • Show how the project meets the award criteria through the supporting documentation or by augmenting the supporting documentation with a written explanation.

Evalutation Process

The award is evaluated by the CRC. All applicant organizations will receive feedback about their submission, acknowledging positive aspects as well as suggestions for improvement.

Six constituent organizations may be chosen each year as award recipients.

Categories:

  • Small Chapters (0-199)
  • Medium Chapters (200-450)
  • Large Chapters (450-999)
  • Extra-large Chapters (1,000+)
  • Specialty Organizations
  • Caucuses

The winner in each category will receive:

  • Monetary award
  • Personalized plaque commemorating the award
  • Recognition on the AAPA Web site.
