AAPA's Annual Conference CME program is designed for PAs by PAs and is approved for CME credit by AAPA. You will be able to comfortably earn 35-40 hours of Category I CME credit over the course of the five-and-a-half-day conference. CME credit is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis and the total number of credit hours you earn is your choice, based on the hours you spend in CME sessions.
Eleven of your clinically practicing/educator peers, the Conference Education Program Committee (CEPC), spend many hours talking with experts as well as reviewing the medical literature and CME agendas from other primary care and specialty conferences in an effort to identify the most up-to-date information. Constituent organizations were also encouraged to submit topics they believed to be of value to their members as well as to the general PA population. A Call for Presentations was posted on the Annual Conference Web site beginning in February 2007, and many PAs and non-PAs submitted topics for consideration by the CEPC. The CEPC continues to work to create a CME agenda to address the varied educational needs of the profession, covering over 50 therapeutic categories, most specialties, and many levels of experience.

AAPA needs the assistance of at least 70 individuals who are registered for AAPA's annual conference. If you are registered for the AAPA's 36th Annual Physician Assistant Conference and you are willing and able to moderate (introduce speakers and evaluate sessions), please complete the Moderator Registration form at: http://www.aapa.org/annual-conf/sanan08/documents/ModeratorRegistrationForm.pdf.
We ask that all volunteers moderate a complete morning or afternoon block of CME sessions. Complete information including training and compensation is included on the Moderator Registration form.
Year after year, the Conference Education Program Committee tries to select a variety of topics for workshops, including many successful topics from years past as well as a handful of new topics. Workshops allow for more skills-oriented learning in small groups. Please remember that workshop registration is separate from your annual conference registration.

AAPA also offers Adjunct Symposia to help round out your CME schedule. These breakfast and dinner sessions, supported by educational grants from pharmaceutical companies, are held 6:30-7:45 a.m. and 5:30-8:00 p.m. every day and offer 1.25-2.5 hours of CME credit. Details on topics will be available in March by viewing the On-line Scheduler on AAPA's Annual Conference Web page. Registration for the Adjunct Symposia will begin April 1.
While you can add workshops and adjunct symposia to your online scheduler, please note that an alert flashes indicating that you must register (and pay, if applicable) separately to confirm participation. Any session that has WS as the first therapeutic category is considered a hands-on workshop, and all adjuncts have ADJ as the first therapeutic category; these sessions require registration in addition to the regular conference registration. Fees for workshops are kept as low as possible and are based on actual costs incurred to conduct the workshops.
Registration for these sessions is only available on-line through your registration record. Adjunct registration opens April 1 and workshop registration opens April 21. Don't forget to include your e-mail address with your conference registration so you can be sure to receive the link to register.
Any remaining workshop and adjunct seats are sold at on-site conference registration in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, beginning on the first day of registration, Friday, May 23, until they are sold out. No cancellations of workshop registrations will be accepted after May 22. Pre-conference workshop registration is only open to AAPA member registrants.
AAPA is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education (CE) for Certified Athletic Trainers. Approximately 200 sessions planned for the San Antonio conference wil be designated for CE credit for athletic trainers as well as CME credit for PAs. In addition, a separate CE certificate will be available for athletic trainers to submit to their own licensing and/or certification board.
