Taking Charge - In addition to a staff of four to assist you, we have some great resources to help you help yourself. This book has virtually everything a state legislative coordinator would need to effectively manage a legislative initiative or manage long-term legislative projects.

Team Building - Want to build an alliance with the state medical society or other state organizations, but don't know where to start? This resource should guide you in the right direction in making the critical first steps in forging these relationships.

AAPA Model State Legislation - Considering a legislative change? AAPA has researched and prepared model language. Many chapters have avoided reinventing the wheel by consulting and adopting the Academy's model language.

Guidelines for State Regulation is policy adopted by the AAPA House of Delegates that serves as the bedrock for model language and legislative and regulatory decision making. A review of the Guidelines may add to your understanding of certain concepts that are faced by your state or elsewhere.

Sample Practice Agreement - If you're having trouble drafting a practice agreement with your supervising physician (may also be called “delegation of services agreement,” “protocols,” or “collaborative plan”), this document tells you what information needs to be included, and even provides you with a blank sample form that you can use as your guide.

Issue Briefs - Maybe you're looking for a way to educate physician groups, legislators, or other interested individuals on the finer points of PA practice. AAPA's issue briefs cover a variety of topics — quite possibly the very one you're looking for.

Legislative Watch - A monthly state government newsletter written for national and state PA leaders.

PA Pronto - A newsletter for those supporting efforts to license PAs in Puerto Rico. As part of those efforts, AAPA recently ran an ad in Hospitales, the official magazine of the hospital association in Puerto Rico. You can view the ad here.

Compendium of State Laws and Regulations - If you are curious about the practice environment in another state or need to check the specifics in your own location, AAPA publishes State Laws & Regulations, containing comprehensive summaries of all PA state laws and regulations.

State Laws and Regulations: Abridged Version - For a more condensed overview of each state’s laws and regulations, visit this concise summary.
