AAPA ACTION ALERT: Take Action TODAY to Urge House Passage
The U.S. Senate voted 62-36 this afternoon to approve HR 4213, The Tax Extenders Act of 2009, a $138 billion bill that would freeze payments under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule at the 2009 level until October 1, 2010, prevent a proposed 21.2 percent reduction in Medicare rates, as well as extend federal Medicaid assistance and COBRA premium subsidies.
The bill now must be passed by the House of Representatives and signed by the president before becoming law. However, the Senate action today clears a major hurdle in completing action before the current March 31 deadline.
PAs are urged to contact their federal Representatives to pass this much needed measure which you can do through AAPA's Legislative Action site in only a few minutes.
