PA Week

Top 10 Banner for PA Week-2

National PA Week is a celebration of the PA profession that’s held every year from Oct. 6-12.

PAs across the country use PA Week to increase awareness of both the PA profession and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Looking for a way to celebrate? We’ve put together a list to help you out, complete with step-by-step guides.

If you have questions about PA Week or how to celebrate in 2014, contact: Patrick Dunne, AAPA assistant director of communications, pdunne@aapa.org.

1. Promote PA Week

Hang up a 2014 PA Week poster in your lobby, classroom, hallway or a public space!

Pick up more PA Week gear in the AAPA Shop.

2. Join PAs on the Plaza on Oct. 7

Each year, PAs and PA students gather in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza to be on NBC’s “Today” show dressed in white coats and scrubs. It's a great way for you to make a visual impression on the anchors and audience, and raise awareness of the fact that America needs PAs.

We'll have more instructions for how to get involved soon.

5. Talk with your local media

6. Host an event for children

This could be a reading hour that emphasizes health at a library, or a fitness test at a YMCA or community center. Encouraging healthy, active lifestyles among youth shows that PAs are ambassadors of quality healthcare.

7. Reach out to local schools

Educate students about who PAs are, how they work with patients and how to become one. You never know: The event might be an inspiration to someone in attendance.
